Mitra residential school, Kachapaju is a unique adivasi school, 18km from Bissamcuttack , started in 1998 by an association of 16 hill tribe villages , Malkondh Anchalika Sangho (MAS) and Christian hospital, Bissamcuttack. A community- based school for Adivasi children, MRSK was conceived in May 1997 at a community Dreaming Session in Kachapaju village. The dream grew in our hearts and captured our minds. The first batch of 15 boys and 15 girls joined class 1 in July 1998. Each year, a class was added. Today we have a total of 155 places available in classes 1-5.The school is community-owned and run. Of the 12 staff, 9 are from the Kondh tribe. A School Committee consisting of parents and MAS representatives, monitors and supports the team in running of the school.
